On 11 May 2021, ONEP – by the Climate Change Management and Coordination Division as the National Designated Authority (NDA), the Environment Fund Division (EFD) and GIZ organized an online meeting on the recommendations for Direct Access Entity (DAE) application to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) as well as discussions on the GCF’s requirements and the current EFD’s framework.
The Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP), by the Climate Change Management and Coordination Division, as the National Designated Authority (NDA) to the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Environmental Fund Division, and the German International Cooperation (GIZ) virtually met on 11 May 2021 to discuss the progress of the GCF Readiness III project’s implementation in supporting the DAE accreditation of the EFD. The national and international consultants presented key elements of documents for DAE application, preparation of policies – including Environmental and Social Safeguards as well as Gender – for climate change projects. Becoming a DAE for Thailand will strengthen the readiness and capacity of the EFD to directly access international funding as well as to act as one of Thailand’s key national mechanisms for climate finance.
This GCF Readiness III project, with GIZ as delivery partner, has the objectives to support the accreditation process of the Environmental Fund Division as well as its preparation to act as Thailand’s national climate finance mechanism, with the implementation period from January 2020 to December 2021.
